A simplest ever vegetable to
prepare for that laziest evening when you are seriously not in a mood to
cook rice, dal or roti as this batata rassa goes well with ladi pav or
any bread of your choice. A comfortable vegie in itself. Everybody knows
how to make this vegetable but I just prepared it yesterday and wanted
to share my version with you all.
Ingredients:
In a sauce pan add oil & mustard seeds. When mustard seeds begins to crackle add hing, turmeric powder and sliced onions. Saute onions for 2 minutes.
Now add diced potatoes and mix well. Add 2 cups of water and let the potatoes cook on medium flame. Stir occasionally.
When potatoes are half done add salt, gul, goda masala and red chilly powder. Add water if needed.
Cook the potatoes till they are tender.
Serve hot with ladi pav, roti or plain rice.
Tips: You can also add tomatoes.
- 5-7 nos. Potatoes
- 1 Big Onion (Cut Lenghtwise)
- 1tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1/4th tsp Hing
- 1/4th tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1tbsp Red Chilly Powder
- 1tbsp Goda Masala OR Coriander-Cumin Seeds Powder
- 2tsp Gul
- Salt to taste
- Water as per gravy consistency
- 2tbsp Oil
