Ingredients
2 cups boiled green chick pea
1 large onion
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 inch ginger
2 cloves garlic
2 tbsp oil
mustard seeds for tempering
salt/sugar as required
water 1/2 cup
Method
Grind onion, ginger/garlic, turmeric and chilli powder to a paste. In a pan/kadhai add oil & mustard seeds and do the tempering. Now add the above paste and saute till oil leaves the sides of the pan. Now add the boiled chick peas and saute for another few minutes. Add water, salt and pinch of sugar. Cover the pan and cook for 5/6 minutes. Serve hot, garnish with chopped tomatoes, sev, and chopped onion & coriander. Your 'usal' is ready. Eat it just as it is or with roti/chapati
(Depending on your required consistency you can add or reduce water. Adjust salt accordingly. I like it dry) .
